In the deep-sea realm, the Muusoctopus genus of octopuses is a true global traveller. Originating in the North Atlantic, these small to medium-sized octopuses have spread to the North Pacific, with separate invasions populating the Southern Hemisphere. Take Muusoctopus profundorum (pictured), for instance, found tending a vibrant garden near a Bering Sea volcano 2,745 m (9,000 ft.) below the surface, showcasing colourful tunicates and crinoids. It’s like discovering an octopus with a green thumb!
